What we did

This project saw ECS appointed commissioning specialist for a new luxury spa facility at the prestigious Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, recapturing its spa heritage using natural water from the grounds.

The works saw a multi-level extension to the hotel set within the stunning 18th Century Humphry Repton landscape. Working on behalf of G&H Building Services we provided our full HVAC testing and commissioning service of a wide variety of mechanical services installed in the luxurious Grade 1-listed building.

Including constant temperature low pressure hot water serving the new 17-metre indoor swimming pool and a 12-meter outdoor hydrotherapy pool. Proportional balancing of six primary ventilation AHUs and all accompanying secondary air ventilation to the indoor pool areas, associated changing facilities, restaurant & kitchen, shop, hair studio and manicure, pedicure and make-up bar.

Adding to the feel of luxury, underfloor heating was installed throughout served by a separate variable temperature, low pressure hot water system consisting of ten manifolds across three levels.

A CHP unit will generate 71kW of thermal output, which generates 33kW of electrical output. This unit, along with two boilers, creates a total load of 1,500kW and recycles otherwise wasted heat around the site while feeding back into the National Grid to provide a sustainable offering.

With mechanical services spread over three plant rooms we ensured all domestic water services, heating and ventilation were tested and commissioned on time, within budget ensuring compliance with all relevant BSRIA and CIBSE codes and the full design intent realised.
